It's a Jedi's Party, Who Could Ask For More?
My husband and I threw a birthday party for our son who's turning 5. He just adores Star Wars so of course I had to make a Death Star pinata and paint a broom handle to look like a lightsaber for the kids to whack at it with. (I actually thought it was an original idea for about a day until my husband Googled it and found a dozen sites or more about how to do it.) Mine came out great and it was so fun watching the kids go to town on it.

lightsaber broom handle

I cut the end of a wooden rake handle, sanded the rough edges, a little gesso, and some colorful paints and you have a $6 wooden version of Luke's lightsaber.

Eh, original idea or not, that's still an awesome thing to do!
And now you have a wooden lightsaber as a keepsake too. :)

You did a fantastic job on that pinata. I tried once to make it and failed miserably. Clever idea on the lightsaber and it's well done, too.
